Constipation During Pregnancy:
As our volume of Blood increases during the term of a pregnancy, it is important to eat foods that nourish and support Blood. Some good choices are eggs, raisins, walnuts, dried longan fruit, black sweet rice, spinach and other leafy green vegetables. In Kunming, the city where I lived, there is, fortunately, an abundance of fresh vegetables and fruits year-round. I ate much fresh produce during my pregnancy and took special care to eat high-fiber vegetables, like mustard greens, to counter constipation. I also ate a mixture of pine nuts and honey. This can be made by soaking pine nuts in raw honey for two weeks, then eating one teaspoon every day. Other self-care practices helpful in preventing or reducing constipation are drinking lots of water- about eight glasses a day – eating moderate amounts of food regularly, reducing salt intake and engaging in regular exercise, such as walking.
1 cup pine nuts
raw honey
Put pine nuts in a jar with a lid and add enough raw honey to cover. Screw on lid and store the jar in the cupboard for 2 weeks.
