Professional & Clinical Focus

What inspired you to become an acupuncturist?

I’ve always been drawn to natural medicine and the healing traditions of cultures around the world. China’s rich and practical medical legacy fascinated me—especially its holistic approach to treating the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. That curiosity led me to study East Asian Medicine in depth.

Do you have any specialties or areas of focus?

Yes. I specialize in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. While I maintain a general practice, I focus on:

  • Orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions (e.g., back pain, joint stiffness, post-operative recovery)
  • Sports injuries
  • Digestive issues (e.g., IBS, reflux, IBD)
  • Autoimmune conditions

I combine acupuncture with Chinese herbal medicine to create customized treatment plans aimed at restoring mobility, reducing pain, and enhancing long-term health.

How do you approach healing with patients?

My approach is trauma-informed and patient-centered. I meet people where they are—physically, emotionally, and mentally—without judgment. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where each person feels seen, heard, and empowered in their healing journey.

What’s something more people should know about acupuncture?

Acupuncture is part of a much larger and incredibly sophisticated system: Chinese Medicine. It’s not just about placing needles—it’s about understanding meridians, patterns of imbalance, and treating the root cause of illness.

While many people know acupuncture for local musculoskeletal relief and trigger point treatments, these techniques represent just one part of what acupuncture has to offer. Its true strength lies in its ability to address the body as an interconnected whole—using the meridian system to restore balance, enhance internal organ function, support emotional health, and promote long-term wellness.

It’s encouraging to see Western doctors now incorporating acupuncture and integrative care into their practices. These cross-disciplinary collaborations show how Eastern and Western medicine can complement one another can work together for better outcomes.

What can new patients expect when working with you?

You’ll receive a warm, personalized, and thoughtful treatment plan. I take time to listen deeply to your story and tailor each session to your needs. My intention is always to offer care that is both effective and compassionate.

Is there a condition you’re especially passionate about treating?

I love helping people with musculoskeletal pain, but I also feel especially passionate about digestive and autoimmune conditions. These issues are often complex and frustrating, and acupuncture can offer real, lasting relief—especially when other methods have fallen short.

Training & Background

Where did you study?

I earned my Master’s degree in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine from the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine—a full-time, three-year program focused on acupuncture, herbs, theory, and clinical practice. I’m currently completing my Doctorate at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences.

Have you studied other healing modalities?

Yes—I’ve practiced yoga, qigong, and meditation for years. These practices keep me grounded and present, and they greatly influence how I work with patients.

Was there a turning point in your path?

Yes—during school, I had a painful bout of kidney stones. While my doctor confirmed the diagnosis, one of my acupuncture teachers gave me herbal medicine to break up the stones and performed acupuncture. The next day, I passed a stone. That experience left a deep impression and solidified my belief in this medicine’s power.

Personal & Relatable

What brings you joy outside the clinic?

I love being outdoors. In the summer, I hike and backpack. In winter, I snowboard. I also value quiet time with friends and family.

How do you stay grounded and balanced?

Daily qigong and meditation, along with regular time in nature, help me unplug and recharge.

What might patients be surprised to learn about you?

I live at the Boulder Zen Center, a Zen Buddhist community in downtown Boulder. It’s a space dedicated to meditation, intentional living, and spiritual practice.

What’s your favorite way to unwind?

Unplugging from devices and getting my feet in the grass or sand. Nature is my reset button.

Fun & Human Touch

If you weren’t an acupuncturist, what would you be doing?

I’d probably be a mountain guide or work in outdoor education.

Quick Picks:

  • Coffee or tea? Tea all the way.
  • Mountains or ocean? Mountains feel like home.
  • Morning or night? I love the stillness of dawn.

One piece of advice for well-being?

Keep it simple. Eat warm, cooked foods. Skip the iced drinks. Get good sleep. Be kind—to yourself and others. And let your body talk to you. Listening is powerful.

Also, having a therapist or someone outside your circle to talk with can be one of the most healing things you do.
